If you look at the neighbor’s lawn down the street and feel envious from time to time, you wouldn’t be the first person that has happened to. Everyone, at one time or another, has looked covetously upon another’s landscape.
If you have always wanted a better lawn but thought that lawn care services were out of reach for you financially, it might be time to reconsider how you are looking at the big picture. A naturally healthy lawn, in many cases, is not a difficult thing to achieve, it just might take some tending to by a professional who knows exactly what to do.
At the end of the day, lawn care really isn’t only about a nice looking lawn, it is about saving you money. here are four reasons you might want to reconsider your own grassy knoll.
1.) A good lawn absorbs runoff.
When you have a quality lawn, you are setting up the ground around your house to be a natural vehicle for absorbing the rainfall throughout the year. A dense lawn that is healthy will absorb rainwater four times more effectively than a hay field and six times more effectively than a wheat field. You can see how important that can be, especially if you have been having problems with rainwater getting into your basement.
2.) A good lawn helps control pollution.
Turfgrass is really great for helping to control pollution. Every year, an estimated 12 million tons of dust and dirt released into the US atmosphere gets trapped by the turf grass that is hard at work all over the United States. Lawn care that keeps turfgrass maintained properly is doing a great service to the environment.
3.) A good lawn helps with the air conditioning bills.
This could be one of the best arguments out there for quality lawn care. If anything would persuade you to take another look at what is going on with your lawn, it just might be this. If you take the front lawns of eight average homes and ran the numbers, you would see that they have the cooling effect of somewhere around 70 tons of air conditioning. The average home-sized air conditioning central air system has only a three to four-ton capacity. Pretty good, right?
4.) A good lawn raises property value.
If you do not consider a lawn care service for any other reason, consider this one. A quality lawn will increase the value of your property pretty substantially. A well-designed and maintained landscape can increase the value of your property by anywhere from 15 to 20%. If that is not a great reason to reassess your lawn care services, then what is?
