Induction Lighting

Induction lighting was first demonstrated during the late 1890s by Nikola Tesla. Since that time, this type of lighting has undergone further technological advancements and is available in a variety of fixtures. One of the many benefits of these lighting systems is that the units don’t have electrodes or filaments, which is what causes other types of bulbs to have a much shorter lifespan.

Many of the induction lighting systems deliver 60 lumens per watt. In some instances, however, they may deliver more than 70 lumens per watt. Furthermore, they also have a considerably longer lifespan and can last up to 100,000 hours. As a result, they do not need to be changed as often.

LED Lighting

While the life expectancy of LED tubes is not as long as that for induction lighting, they also last for a long time. On average, LED tubes will usually provide about 50,000 hours of light. In comparison, a fluorescent bulb and ballast’s life expectancy is roughly 20,000 hours. It’s also interesting to compare LEDs with high-intensity discharge lamps, or HID headlights. While the former will last ten times longer, the latter tend to be 50% brighter.
