Three Beach Home Trends You Won’t Want to Miss!

Real estate foreclosures

This summer, why not treat you and your family to a brand new beach home? You can pick the destination of your choice — preferably somewhere warm — and either check out real estate listings for beach homes, or have one built right near the water.

The advantage of building a beach home is that you can customize it the way you want. This means you are not limited to existing oceanfront homes for sale, and can expand your search to the perfect spot on the beach before constructing your dream living space.

If you do opt to build the house, here are some of the latest construction trends you may want to consider.

  • Outdoor Shower. You may think that you won’t get enough privacy this way, but an outdoor shower could be one of the most charming features of your home. You can have the builder construct a mini shed-like structure that includes plumbing and lets plenty of sunshine in. By mimicking your home’s exterior design for the outdoor shower, the enclosure will look like an extension of the house. You can also install as many locks as you want to add privacy.
  • Al Fresco Dining. The whole point of a beach home is to be able to spend as much time as possible on the beach, not in your house. So why waste your space on a huge indoor living room? Many homeowners are having outdoor dining spaces built into their home’s structure. This allows them to thoroughly enjoy the warm weather, and keep the furnishings simple, as the outdoors will provide ample ambiance and decor for the entire space.
  • Outdoor Kitchen. Why stop at shifting a dining room outdoors? Why not build your entire kitchen out there as well? You will love being able to look out at the ocean as you cook your favorite meal, and there will be plenty of wind to help waft the delicious aromas all around the dining space. You can have the entire kitchen painted to match the interior of the home too, so that it doesn’t feel completely separate. Also, you can build the kitchen close to where you keep all your pantry supplies, for convenience.

So before you start looking at existing beach homes for sale, consider how much creative freedom you will have if you have one built. It may be more expensive, but the money will be worth it. More on this.
